HAMLET HISTRIONICS

Having now seen the work of Charles Marowitz, I would like to comment on his criticism of support for productions such as the Mark Taper Forum’s “The Hands of Its Enemy.”
I recently attended the Marowitz-directed and -adapted, gimmicky, crotch-grabbing, T&A; production of “Hamlet.” Even Shakespeare’s poetry could not survive this ludicrous, histrionically yelled performance. Marowitz is suffering from self-delusion if he expects support of any kind for this gross misuse of theater.
