Navy Man Charged as Spy

WASHINGTON — The FBI today arrested a retired Navy officer, who had access to communications codes, on charges of obtaining classified documents for passage to the Soviet Union.
FBI Director William H. Webster said retired Chief Warrant Officer John Anthony Walker Jr., 47, of Norfolk, Va., was arrested before dawn at a motel in Rockville, Md., a Washington suburb, after FBI agents confiscated a package containing 129 classified Navy documents.
