Anaheim : Higher Trash Collection Fees on Council Agenda
- Share via
Increases in trash fees will be considered by the City Council today.
The rate would be raised from $4.70 to $5.15 for houses, and from $4.40 to $4.82 for apartments, said John Roche, Anaheim’s maintenance director.
Businesses would face a 13.9% increase, Roche said. Fees vary with the number of weekly pick-ups and the number and size of garbage bins. The most common monthly rate, of $44.10 for weekly collection from a 3-cubic-yard bin, would be increased to $50.25.
Roche said Anaheim’s garbage collection rates are lower than most cities in Orange County. The highest charge for commercial trash pick-up is Garden Grove’s monthly fee of $55.45 a bin.
Anaheim trash fees were last increased in October, 1983.
The City Council meets at 9:30 a.m. today at Anaheim Civic Center, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
