Air pollution is threatening national parks and reducing their beauty as haze blocks scenic vistas, a House panel was told. “The possibly irreversible nature of acid-caused damage to water and forest resources requires action now,” said Mohamed El-Ashry of the World Resources Institute. He said several national parks in California--including Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon, and Devil’s Postpile National Monument --are threatened by chemicals that have killed fish and damaged trees.
