A 42-year-old Santee woman was pronounced dead at Grossmont Hospital early Tuesday morning after sheriff’s deputies found her bloodied body lying on her Michala Place front lawn, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

Sheriff’s deputies were responding to a disturbance on the 10000 block of Michala Place when they discovered Gayle D. Neuner lying in the front yard, victim of a gunshot wound in the abdomen, the spokesman said.

Deputies said they are looking for the woman’s former boyfriend, Herbert A. Scabery, 55, for questioning. He is described as being 5 feet 9, 140 pounds and driving a 1970 Toyota station wagon.
