Hippo Doesn’t Survive Visit to Shopping Mall

HARARE, Zimbabwe — A 3,300-pound female hippopotamus lumbered into a suburban shopping center in the Zimbabwe capital Tuesday and knocked over a wall.
Wildlife rangers immobilized the beast with a drugged dart, but it died shortly after collapsing. A spokesman for the parks and wildlife board said that it was not known where the hippo had come from but that it was suffering from exhaustion and hypothermia.
