An East Los Angeles man, reportedly under the influence of the drug PCP, was shot to death by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after he grabbed one deputy’s gun during a struggle with several officers and pointed it at them. Sheriff’s Lt. Charles Elliott said David Alvidrez, 29, threw household items at several deputies who went to his home in response to a domestic disturbance. Elliott said that Alvidrez escaped through a bedroom window but was tackled by other deputies in front of the house, where he was shot in the ensuing struggle. Although Alvidrez did not fire the gun, three deputies fired seven shots at him after he pointed the weapon at them, Elliot said. One deputy was hit in the leg by a ricocheting bullet and two others suffered minor cuts in the fight, Elliott said.
