Artukovic Motions Thrown Out

A federal judge briskly denied a flurry of motions today by attorneys for alleged Nazi war criminal Andrija Artukovic, refusing to hold hearings on whether the aged Artukovic can get a fair trial after he is extradited to Yugoslavia.
Chief U.S. District Judge Manuel Real also refused to permit further exploration of whether the United States instigated action by Yugoslavia to renew its bid for Artukovic’s return to his homeland for trial. Real did not indicate when he will rule on the central motion, the appeal of the May extradition ruling by U.S. Magistrate Volney Brown.
