A Canadian coroner has called for an inquest into Manfred Winkelhock’s death “to clear the air” over circumstances surrounding an Aug. 11 accident that killed the West German driver at Mosport Raceway in Toronto.
The 32-year-old Winkelhock slammed his Kremer Porsche 962C into a concrete barrier at the track during a World Endurance Championship race. He died in hospital a day later from massive head injuries.
