PROPAGANDA KIDS

Sylvia Drake’s review of the nuclear program “Imagining a Future” (Aug. 7) at the Taper hit a point journalists must come to grips with--the use or abuse of children--for political propaganda.
I don’t care what side of what fence one sits on, children are being frightened and manipulated by adults who are using the kids as billboards for complex, adult issues.
As director of the Theater Palisades Kids, I have turned down any offer of performance by children on the nuclear issue.
I like working with children for their honesty and heir forgiveness--and I hope never to betray them by using them to deliver propaganda messages for anyone .
And, by the way, did Emperor Hirohito send back a letter to the third grade apologizing for the stupidity of his government for starting the war?
