Construction Under Way on Camarillo Shopping Center

CAMARILLO — Work has begun on Post Plaza, a 25,000-square-foot shopping center.
Designed by McClellan Cruz Gaylord and Associates of Pasadena, and developed and owned by James S. Lee Inc., the one-story center will be located near Ponderosa Drive and Mobil Avenue, across from the new Camarillo post office now being completed.
Post Plaza, which is expected to cost in excess of $1.5 million, will have 22 tenants and create nearly 100 jobs.
The L-shaped center is designed with a Spanish theme and will occupy about two acres. Completion is expected late this year.
To provide access from Ponderosa Drive, a flood control channel will be covered with concrete, then landscaped at the developer’s expense. Part of the covered channel will be used as a parking area.
Inside the mall, an arcade with shops on either side will be highlighted by a vaulted ceiling with three skylights.
