Fire caused an estimated $85,000 in damage in Sepulveda Wednesday after a car caught fire in a garage and flames quickly spread to the adjoining condominium, officials said.
The fire broke out about 10 a.m. in the 8400 block of Burnet Avenue after a woman pulled her car into the garage and noticed that smoke was coming from the engine, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo. The car’s air-conditioning system had apparently malfunctioned, Acevedo said.
Firefighters contained the blaze about 20 minutes later. The fire caused $10,000 damage to the car, $55,000 to the garage and condominium and $20,000 to the condo’s contents, Acevedo said.
