Booker Russell, a former Oakland Raider running back, was arrested by Houston police on a murder charge after allegedly telling sheriff’s deputies that he had killed his common-law wife.
Russell, 29, of Houston, was charged in the shooting Monday night of Merline Ruth Dixon, 25. Russell was being held on $10,000 bond.
Russell was a running back for the Raiders in 1978 and 1979 after graduating from Southwest Texas State.
