The State : Liu Killers’ Plea Rejected

The Supreme Court of Taiwan rejected the appeals of two reputed gangsters sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering a Chinese-American journalist in Northern California last year. A five-judge panel turned down the appeals of Chen Chi-li, 42, and Wu Tun, 35, court officials said. Chen, reputed leader of Taiwan’s largest underworld organization, the Bamboo Gang, and Wu were convicted by the high court of killing journalist Henry Liu, 52. Liu was gunned down at the garage of his home in Daly City, near San Francisco, last Oct. 15.
