Mayors Urge Japan to Open Markets to U.S.

PORTLAND, Ore. — West Coast mayors and business leaders urged Japan Saturday to open its markets and expressed concern that rising protectionist sentiment in this country could result in economic hardship.
A resolution adopted at the closing session of the Japan-American Conference of Mayors and Chamber of Commerce Presidents expressed strong support for a continued open market between Japan and the United States.
