William H. Spoor, who led Pillsbury Co. through 13 years of growth and profitability, is retiring as chairman but will remain on the company’s board of directors.
Spoor, 62, will be succeeded by John M. Stafford, 48, president and chief executive. Stafford was named chief executive last May and president in February, 1984. He will continue to hold those titles.
