A 25-year-old man was in satisfactory condition Wednesday after suffering a severe foot injury when he fell while attempting to jump aboard a slow-moving Santa Fe Railroad freight train in Santa Ana.
Authorities said the man, who was being treated at UCI Medical Center in Orange, may have to have his left foot amputated.
Police are withholding the man’s name because they have not been able to contact his relatives.
The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday as the train was approaching the 1200 block of East 1st Street, police said.
