B&B; Near Gatwick

I read your Travel Section at the public library here in Tucson. In January I read a tip in Jerry Hulse’s column about a B&B; near Gatwick Airport, London, that certainly sounded good and casually noted the address and phone. Thanks, L.A. Times, for a marvelous recommendation to Audrey and Derek Robeson-Smith’s place at 22 Roffey’s Close, Copthorne, Sussex RH10 3QY. They are a delightful middle-aged couple with just three bedrooms and a devoted clientele who, for just 20 daily, give bedroom for two, complete English breakfast cooked to order by Audrey and free transportation to and from Gatwick in their car. Derek would insist on preparing tea for us after each excursion, and Copthorne is a lovely village to boot. We extended our stay to five days--a hit. Derek took our reservation by phone from Arizona: (0342) 713-979. No need to stay in London, 30 minutes away.
