The rugged mountain terrain north of La Canada was combed by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies, search-and-rescue teams and a helicopter seeking a 56-year-old Beverly Hills man who failed to return from a day hike on Sunday. Deputies said members of Benjamin King’s family called the Sheriff’s Department shortly after midnight to report that he was overdue. King, an attorney who is an experienced hiker, had told relatives he planned to spend the day alone in the Strawberry Peak area of the Angeles National Forest, officers said.
