NEW YORK — Joe Masiell, the singer and actor who toured the country in the musical “Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris,” has died of bone cancer. He was 45 years old.
Masiell, a native of the Bronx, died Friday at a hospital here.
Masiell, son of an Italian tenor, replaced the lead in the cast of “Jacques Brel” in 1969, and thereafter performed in the show somewhere every year, according to Lily Turner, the producer.
He also appeared on stage in “Cindy,” “Different Times,” “Leaves of Grass,” “Dear World” and in the Shakespeare Festival’s Central Park production of “Non Pasquale,” a takeoff on the opera “Don Pasquale.”
