The space shuttle will launch Hughes’ satellites.

Hughes Communications said it will pay NASA about $180 million to launch six of the company’s satellites from the shuttle. “This decision to use the space shuttle for our next generation of satellites is of great significance,” company President Steven D. Dorfman said. “We judge that the shuttle will provide low-cost and reliable launches.”
