Actress Carol Burnett and her husband filed suit in Los Angeles federal court Tuesday against the Internal Revenue Service, seeking a refund of $1.07 million in taxes.
Burnett and Joseph Hamilton, along with their production company, Whacko Inc., claim that they qualified for investment-tax credits on the company’s television production costs for “The Carol Burnett Show” from 1972 to 1976.
Attorney Stephen Monroe said the couple is awaiting the outcome of a similar suit claiming the same investment-tax credits on episodes from 1977 to 1978.
