The Soviet Union again purchased U.S. corn.

The Soviet Union has bought 600,000 metric tons of U.S. corn--about 23.6 million bushels--for delivery in the year that will begin Oct. 1, the Agriculture Department said. It was the first Soviet purchase of grain for delivery in 1985-86, the third year of a long-term grain supply agreement with the United States.
