Jim Edmondson, President of the Pasadena Casting Club, and his wife, Ann, were awarded the Conservation Achievement Award by the Federation of Fly Fishers at its international convention last month in Yellowstone, Mont.

The 37-year-old Temple City resident and his wife received the award for their work in restoring the West Fork of the San Gabriel River, a seven-mile stretch of wild trout habitat destroyed in 1981 when 200,000 cubic yards of silt was released from Cogswell Dam into the stream by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. The state Department of Fish and Game filed a $2 million suit against the department. A settlement of the suit is expected soon, a public works official said.

The couple also was honored for their work in helping to open up a 35-mile stretch of the Owens River in the eastern Sierra Nevada to wild trout by removing obstructions that prevented spawning fish from swimming upstream.
