Release of Radioactive Gas at Nuclear Plant Told

HADDAM NECK, Conn. — Maintenance workers caused an unexpectedly rapid release of radioactive gas at the Connecticut Yankee nuclear power plant, Northeast Utilities reported.
The release Thursday posed no health threat, said Tony Nericcio, utility spokesman. The utility was planning to release the gas anyway, but at a slower rate than occurred during the 15-minute accidental release, he said.
