N. Y. Marathon Prize Money Set

NEW YORK — Prize money for the Oct. 27 New York Marathon will total $273,800, race director Fred Lebow has announced.
The winning man and woman will each receive $25,000 and a new car, plus $50,000 if they set a world record or $10,000 for a course record.
The men’s prize money will total $149,300, with $22,000 for second, $18,000 for third, $15,000 for fourth and $12,000 for fifth.
The women’s prize money will be $124,500, with $22,000 for second, $18,000 for third, $14,000 for fourth and $10,000 for fifth.
Money will be awarded to the top 25 finishers.
It will be the second year prize money is being awarded at the New York Marathon, which is run through all five of the city’s boroughs.
