Israel Protests British Moves

JERUSALEM — Israel lodged a sharp protest with Britain today over Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s announcement that she will meet with a Palestinian-Jordanian peace delegation, and over a British decision to sell arms to Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Acting Foreign Minister Moshe Arens called in British Ambassador Clifford W. Squire and in an “animated” meeting, delivered a formal protest, expressing Israel’s “deep displeasure over British deviation from its policy in the Middle East,” an official said.
