Tandy Corp. projected a 30% increase in profits.

In addition to the forecast of improved profits next year, the company unveiled a new high-powered personal computer to compete with one of IBM’s most popular products. The new machine runs at a faster speed than most similar products on the market and has more memory expansion, the company said. The price of the new computer was not disclosed. Tandy officials also said at the company’s annual meeting that they will give their 9,000-plus Radio Shack stores an $80-million face lift over the next five years to make them look more high tech.
