Stanton : City Requests Resumes for Hayes Replacement
- Share via
Applicants to replace City Councilman Jim Hayes, who officially stepped down Tuesday after moving to Laguna Niguel, must submit resumes to interim City Manager Roy Bruckner by 5 p.m. next Wednesday.
Bruckner said the council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 22 to consider selection of someone to serve out the remaining year of Hayes’ term. If a selection isn’t made within 30 days of Hayes’ resignation, the council must order a special election to fill the post.
“We’d like to do it by appointment because it’s for less than a year,” Mayor Jean Siriani said. She added that a special election would be costly and take at least another three months to arrange.
No applicants had come forward as of Thursday afternoon, according to city officials. Siriani said no decision has been made, although some possibilities have been discussed, adding: “I have had no one approach me seeking an appointment.”
