A weeklong winter storm that smashed record lows and dumped up to five feet of snow in the Rockies spilled into the Great Plains today, icing Nebraska and Kansas roads with snow and freezing rain.
The storm dropped four inches of snow on parts of Kansas and nine inches on Valentine, Neb. Snow and freezing drizzle left roads icy and snowpacked. Schools were closed for the second day in Pueblo, Colo., where 16 inches of snow fell in 24 hours, just 0.3 inches short of a record.
