The St. Louis Cardinals released catcher Darrell Porter, relief pitcher Bill Campbell and minor league infielder Willie Lozado.
The club had announced earlier that it would not offer a contract to the 33-year-old Porter, the Cardinal catcher for the last five seasons. Porter, who made $700,000 in the final year of a five-year contract this season, hit just .221 and was sidelined often with injuries.
