A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night and his passenger seriously injured when their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck driven by an allegedly drunk driver.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman said Andre Paul Walker, 27, was dead at the scene. The passenger, Gary L. Vosburgh, 29 of Garden Grove, was airlifted to UCI Medical Center in Orange and remained in critical condition Friday, CHP spokesman Kevin Dougherty said.
Arrested and booked on charges of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter was Thoro F. Earlywine, 51, of Anaheim, Dougherty said. Earlywine, who was not injured, is being held at Orange County Jail on $25,000 bail, Dougherty said.
Walker and Vosburgh were westbound on Katella Avenue on a 1983 Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed when Earlywine, who was eastbound in his 1977 Dodge truck, attempted to make a left turn at Magnolia Avenue, police said.
