Several local and national organizations were accepting donations Friday to aid the victims of the Colombian volcano disaster. Most said the primary need was for money, because medical supplies and other necessities can be purchased in Bogota or other places in the area.
The American Red Cross initially asked for blood donations, but spokesman Ralph Wright of the Los Angeles Chapter said later they were no longer sought. The Red Cross was hoping to send 20 electrical generators to the stricken region this weekend.
