The Oak Tree meeting at Santa Anita will be the site of next year’s $10-million dollar Breeders’ Cup thoroughbred racing card.
Officials signed a contract for the Nov. 1, 1986, event, and there is a possibility that it may also be held in Southern California in 1987.
Gibson Downing, president of the Breeders’ Cup, said that to gain more prime time exposure on television from coast to coast, the site selection committee has made a preliminary proposal for two consecutive years in the West.
