Times’ All-Star Teams to Be Named Dec. 12

The Times will announce its annual Southeast and South Coast all-star football teams next Thursday.
The first and second teams, which each have 23 players, are chosen from Central Los Angeles, Orange County, Westside, San Gabriel Valley, Glendale, Southeast, South Coast, South Bay, San Fernando Valley and San Diego County. Players are chosen primarily from nominations by prep coaches.
The annual all-star football awards breakfast, which salutes the 230 top players from the 10 first teams, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Anaheim Hilton Hotel, 777 Convention Way. Featured speakers will be Lt. Gen. Winfield Scott, superintendent of the Air Force Academy, and Bruce Johnson, defensive coordinator for the academy’s football team.
Each first-team player will receive a certificate and trophy. In addition, a back, lineman and coach of the year from each area will be announced, and each will receive a trophy.
Players, their parents and coaches have been invited.
