William Allen Jones has been named senior vice president-corporate general counsel and secretary of the new United Artists Corp.
Financier Kirk Kerkorian is buying UA on completion of the sale of its parent, MGM/UA Entertainment, to Turner Broadcasting System.
Jones has been serving as vice president, general counsel-corporate and secretary of MGM/UA for the last two years.
He went there from the law firm of Wyman, Bautzer, Rothman, Kuchel & Silbert. He started in the entertainment industry in 1973 as a staff attorney with Walt Disney Productions, Burbank, and later became its treasurer.
