Capitol Christmas Tree Lit

WASHINGTON — Six youngsters, including four grandchildren of House Speaker Thomas P. (Tip) O’Neill Jr. (D-Mass.), jointly pressed a switch to light the Capitol Christmas tree’s 2,500 white, blue and orange lights Wednesday night. O’Neill said it was “the people’s tree, the emblem of peace for the nation and the world.”
