Delegates of the Greens party joined a demonstration against a planned nuclear waste-reprocessing plant in the Bavarian village of Wackersdorf. Police estimated that about 20,000 people participated in the demonstration. They said at least one person was arrested and one policeman slightly injured in the largely peaceful protest. The environmentalist Greens adjourned their party congress in Offenburg to join in the demonstration.
