Pasadena Muir Wins Girls’ Tournament

Pasadena Muir High, completing a sweep of the teams ranked first and second in the country, won the girls Tournament of Champions championship by defeating Christ the King of New York, 54-45, Monday night at UC Santa Barbara.
Muir (15-0) was ranked 13th going into the tournament but eliminated No. 2 Point Loma, 62-43, in the semifinals and handed No. 1-rated Christ the King its first loss of the season in the title game.
Geannine Jordan, a 6-2 senior forward, scored 19 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Muir, which fell behind, 18-6, at the start and still trailed, 34-32, going into the final period.
Hacienda Heights Wilson, getting a break when 6-11 Kevin Walker was unable to play because of an ankle injury, rolled to a 50-32 victory over Brea-Olinda to win the championship in the Glendora Tournament.
