30 FOREIGN FILMS VYING FOR OSCAR

Thirty countries have submitted entries for the Best Foreign Language Film Award to be presented at the Academy Awards ceremony March 24 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. The nominees are:
“The Official Story,” Argentina; “Malambo,” Austria, “Dust,” Belgium; “Jacques and November,” Canada; “Scalpel, Please,” Czechoslovakia; “Twist and Shout,” Denmark; “Angry Harvest,” West Germany; “Three Men and a Basket,” France; “Colonel Redl,” Hungary; “Skammedegi,” Iceland, “Saagar,” India; “When Night Falls,” Israel; “Macaroni,” Italy; “Grey Sunset,” Japan; “Er Woo Dong, The Entertainer,” South Korea; “Frida,” Mexico; “The Dream,” Holland; “Wives--10 Years After,” Norway; “The City and the Dogs,” Peru; “My Country--In Desperate Straits,” Philippines.
“Yesterday,” Poland; “Ana,” Portugal; “Kiuleandra,” Romania; “The Witching Hour,” Spain; “Ronia, The Robber’s Daughter,” Sweden; “High Fire,” Switzerland; “Kuei-Mei, A Woman,” Taiwan; “Go and See,” Soviet Union; “Oriana,” Venezuela; “When Father Was Away on Business,” Yugoslavia.
