National Can will pay an undisclosed price for the plants, which are located in Los Angeles; Oak Creek, Wis., and Fremont, Ohio, the company reported. The sale will leave Detroit-based Stroh with two can-making plants--in Longview, Tex., and Winston-Salem, N.C., where it operates breweries. A Stroh spokesman called the sale a cost-cutting measure that will reduce Stroh’s own can-making capacity to 45% of its needs from more than 95%.
