Shuttle OKd for Launch--Again

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The beleaguered space shuttle Columbia was tentatively cleared today for a record sixth launch attempt Friday after NASA found and removed a five-inch instrument lodged in a fuel line that had grounded the ship.
Blastoff on the five-day satellite launching mission is scheduled for 3:55 a.m. PST, but Air Force weather officers called for heavy cloud cover and light rain in the area. NASA said work also remains to be completed at the launch pad to wind up the repair job.
