HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER : Kennedy Shuts Garfield Out of the City Playoffs Early, 3-0

Kennedy High’s Brian Rubenstein scored three goals Thursday in knocking Garfield’s soccer team out of the first round of the City playoffs, 3-0.
Garfield and Kennedy were co-champions last year after tying in the final last year.
Kennedy plays Roosevelt in the second round at home Tuesday at 2:30.
San Fernando 1, Hollywood 0--The teams fought through two 40-minute regulation periods and two 10-minute overtimes to send the game to sudden death. Chepe Torres fired the winning goal.
Grant 1, Marshall 0--Grant’s only goal was scored in the first half by Luis Cruz.
Melvin Sosa was ejected from the game midway through the first half, leaving the Lancers shorthanded.
San Pedro 3, El Camino Real 2--San Pedro had a 2-0 lead at halftime, but El Camino rallied to tie it in the second half with goals by Shawn Goldberg and Michael Stenberg.
