BRIEFLY : Nunn Continues Road to Title Shot in Reseda

North Hollywood middleweight contender Michael Nunn, undefeated in 11 professional fights, will meet Oscar Saucedo of Mexico in the main event of a Jan. 28 boxing card at the Country Club in Reseda.

In the semi-main draw, bantamweight Frankie Duarte, 36-6 with 26 knockouts, will face Rafino Lugo of Tijuana. Lugo is 14-3.

Saugus Speedway Site

of NASCAR Race Series

Saugus Speedway will play host to the first of 13 events on the new NASCAR All-American Challenge Series/Southwest Tour stock car program March 29.

The Southwest Tour, covering tracks in California and Nevada, was created after an inaugural Northwest Tour was successful in 1985.

Saugus will play host to a second program July 5. Both stops at Saugus will offer a 100-lap feature race.

NASCAR organizers added that the Southwest Tour will not conflict with the Winston West stock car series.

Madrid Twins Headline

Benefit Fight Card

Twin brothers Eric and Elias Madrid of Sylmar headline a professional boxing card Feb. 4 at 8 p.m. at the Country Club in Reseda.

Eric Madrid, 23-1 with 18 knockouts, will try to avenge his only loss in a lightweight bout against Neri Reyes of San Jose. Elias, 23-0 with 17 knockouts, takes on JoJo Perkins of New Orleans in a super-lightweight meeting.

Also scheduled is an exhibition by Benny (the Jet) Urquidez and his full-contact demonstration team, which will display self-defense tactics for use in the ring or on the streets.

The evening is being dedicated to veteran promoter Harry Kabakoff. A host of celebrities, including Redd Foxx, Tony Danza, Ted Knight and Doc Severinsen, are expected.
