Compton College President Named Man of the Year

COMPTON — For his efforts to mold a new image of excellence at Compton Community College, President Edison O. Jackson has been selected Man of the Year by the Martin Luther King Jr. Democratic Club of Compton, college officials announced last week.
Jackson assumed the post last July and promptly challenged teachers, administrators and students to improve the school’s reputation by raising its academic standards. In November, college trustees were so pleased with Jackson’s work that they approved a two-year extension of his initial two-year contract.
