A holdup at the Centinela Drive-In Theater in Ladera Heights left one of three gunmen dead after the victims followed the bandits and engaged them in a gun battle, police said. Carlo Jerome Bettis was taken to Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood where he died of his injuries, police said. The other two gunmen fled on foot and are still at large, police said. Investigators said the victims, who were not identified, were approached as they sat in their car watching a movie. Police said the bandits took about $100.
