Three-time All-American junior safety David Fulcher and All-Pacific 10 Conference nose guard Dan Saleaumua have been dismissed from Arizona State because of poor grades, Sun Devil football Coach John Cooper said Tuesday.

But Cooper added that both players can petition for readmission in the fall if they can raise their grades by attending a junior college this spring, Arizona State this summer or a combination of the two.

“Hopefully, we’re not going to lose them,” Cooper said. “Hopefully, they can get their house in order and get back out there. I would hope that both of them would realize that they’re about to run out of rope. They’re going to have to start doing the job.”
