Lendl, Navratilova Featured at Forum

Ivan Lendl, who last week won the Masters Grand Prix final, will play Yannick Noah, and Martina Navratilova, who is battling the flu, will meet Gabriela Sabatini in the Forum Championship Tennis exhibition series tonight at the Forum. Play will begin at 6 p.m.

Lendl is the No. 1 men’s player in the world and last Sunday at New York beat Boris Becker in straight sets in the final. Noah was scheduled to face Jimmy Connors in the Masters but, because Connors was sick, played Andres Gomez and lost in the first round.

Navratilova beat Claudia Kohde-Kilsch Monday night in a tournament at Worcester, Mass. Navratilova is the No. 1 women’s player in the world. The 15-year-old Sabatini is ranked 12th.

The women will open the exhibition with a best-of-three sets match, to be followed by the men’s match. An eight-game pro-set mixed doubles match will follow the Lendl-Noah match.
