Fullerton : City Acts to Get Site for Museum Plaza Complex

The proposed Fullerton Museum Plaza is one step closer to reality as the city moved to purchase a site and undertake architectural and traffic studies for the $12-million project.
Acting as the city’s redevelopment agency, City Council members Tuesday unanimously voted to enter into negotiations for a one-acre parcel at 125 E. Wilshire Ave. The property owner is seeking $200,000 for the downtown site, according to Ron Hagan, director of the city’s community services.
The council voted to hire the Santa Ana consulting firm of Parsons, Brinckerhoff, Quade & Douglas Inc. to conduct a traffic and parking study of the area at a cost not to exceed $6,800. The council also voted to hire Bastien & Associates Inc. in Costa Mesa to prepare an architectural site plan for the plaza at a cost not to exceed $9,800.
Last November, the City Council approved the concept of the plaza project, which is to include a 300-seat special-effects theater, specialty restaurants, shopping galleries and an outdoor art display area.
Hagan said the precise design of the theater and the plaza project have not been detailed.
