Three Orange County men entered guilty pleas in Los Angeles federal court to charges of illegal possession of 31 automatic weapons and homemade silencers, including Uzi and Mac-10 assault rifles. Michael Butler and Ronald Zorola, both 32 and from Santa Ana, and Steven Johnston, 32, of Costa Mesa admitted that they possessed the weapons. Butler said he bought the parts to make silencers for weapons at gun swap meets, “over the counter, in front of everybody.”
